I’ve allowed my dog to play on my couch for a year. I’m thinking of upgrading my couch to something leather but need to start training him not to play on the couch. Any tips on how to stop a dog from playing on my couch?

Great tips, Crate training is def. a good tool to use when training dogs.
House breaking your dog is a very tough job especially that dogs love new things that they see and they kinda chew anything.
Hi,
Good clear article. The more people that understand about housebreaking their dog / puppy as soon as possible the better.

Jay
Just had to say thank you. Excellent post. Thanks.
Hi there
Thank you for your informative post. I was especially pleased to read your comments about crates – how they are a tool (not the puppies home as some would have you believe) and that a dog should not be in them for long periods of time. Basically a dog is a pack animal and they do get stressed if they are left alone for long periods of time, so thank you for your sensible take on this
Ellen
Crate training is by far the best technique to use for potty training your puppy. For most puppies, the house training shouldn’t take very long, but for others, it will take a while longer. Some dog breeds are known to be harder to potty train, but no matter what dog breed, YOU are 100% responsible for your puppy’s success in potty training. As to how long it will take, read more at http://puppyhousetrainingsecrets.com/how-long-will-potty-training-my-puppy-take-128.html.

housebreaking your pet dogs isn’t a hard work. you just need to learn the job. nice article..
Training a dog is not that difficult having said that it does require patience and consistency.
I am not a believer that the “crate” is the best method of potty training a puppy. It is my experience that as long as you are paying attention, especially after your pup wakes from sleeping of 1/2 hr after eating the potty training will move along fairly fast. We also use potty pads and they work great.
